Top Jimi Gilbert/Lee Jackson Pack for the Kemper Profiling Amplifier

Seeking to Recreate the Sound of: Paul Gilbert's Lee Jackson Modified Marshalls

Gain Range (Scale: 0 to 10): 6 to 8

Profile Type: Studio (22 profiles), Merged (22 profiles)

Jim's Comments: "This pack is so cool!! We meticulously duplicated the tone used on the first two Racer X albums. If you've got the chops, you can sound just like Paul! If not, you can still sound like Paul playing rhythm (I'm in this group). ;-) Also included are our own profiles using our three favorite speakers for a wider range of great rock tones. No clean tones from these amps. These profiles sound HUGE!"

The amps used to make this pack were both formerly owned by legendary guitarist Paul Gilbert. One started life as a 1974 50W non-master volume Marshall and was brought to Lee Jackson for modification in 1985. The other a 1975 Super Lead brought to Lee in either 1985 or 86. The amps were used by Paul to record the first two Racer X albums, Street Lethal and Second Heat in 1986 and 1987, respectively. Check out the video below for much more detail and history.

Expressive, Dynamic, and Full of Character

I’ve been really blown away by the Gilbert/Lee Jackson Kemper pack, these profiles are incredible. The sound is spot-on: rich, dynamic, and full of character without ever feeling sterile or flat. You can tell a lot of thought went into how each amp behaves across the range.
Top Jimi Profiles

I especially loved the personality and responsiveness of both amp profiles, they feel alive under your fingers and translate picking dynamics beautifully. The way they react to your touch really makes them stand out compared to a lot of other profiles I’ve tried.
Kemper Profiler Forum

Personally, I lean more toward the first version (the non-Rocket one) with the gain sitting more in the midrange... it just hits that sweet spot for me in terms of tone and balance. That said, every single profile in this pack is top quality and perfectly usable in a range of rock contexts.
Top Jimi Profiles

All in all, highly recommended, these are profiles that make your Kemper feel more expressive and musical.
